Happy 1st Birthday, Emmett
What a difference a year makes. The first picture is of Emmett’s second day of life. I still can’t bring myself to post a picture of him right after birth because it is still too difficult to look at. I look at my healthy, beautiful, snugly little boy today and I can almost forget the rough start he had. He didn’t let any of it slow him down. One year ago, Jordan and I kept saying we couldn’t wait to get out of the NICU and fast forward one year. WE DID IT! Emmett is the happiest baby these days. He loves his mom, dad and big brother so much. We are all greeted with squeels of delight and a big smile when we enter the room. He loves to eat and crawl around every where. Don’t leave the gate open on the stairs because he will be halfway to the top before you realize. He opens every cabinet in the kitchen and loves to go for the corning wear. His favorite foods are pasta, blueberries, mini waffles and graham crackers. He can drink out of a sippy cup and get his Cheerios out of the snack trap. He will plop his entire body on top of a soft blanket or stuffed animal and lay his head down for snuggles. He gives long, snugly hugs. He is not so hot on the idea of walking, but loves to use a walker to get around. If he ends up with 2 things occupying both hands you will find him standing alone in the middle of the room until he realizes it and promptly sits down. If he sees a ball you will know it, “baw” is his first word. He also says “num-num”, “da-da”, and “ma-ma”. He tries to chase after Grace and gets very upset and frustrated when she won’t stick around for cuddles. Emmett has taken after his big brother and follows Papa around the house. His nicknames are Emmanator and Emmie (don’t all babies have to have a “ie” added to their name?) He has 5 teeth, 3 on top and two on bottom. We love you so much Emmett and couldn't imagine life without you!!
We celebrated Emmetts birthday on Saturday the 14th. Papa, Yaya, Aunt Melissa, Uncle Bob, Aunt Courtney, Hadley, Aidyn, Lennon, Beckett, Grandpa, Grandma, Jon, Jackie, Carter and Lucy were all here to celebrate. We grilled barbeque chicken breast and legs, swam in the pool and the awesome blow-up slide/pool/bounce house Aunt Courtney brought and busted a pinanta. It was an awesome day for an awesome kid.
